*******ETA: I was eventually able to use the Intelligender test and it said Boy.  Yesterday we had the anatomy scan and it IS a boy!!!! The test was right for us! *********

Kristen here with the last of our Baby! Baby! giveaways.  As you know, I am pregnant with our 4th.  We are definitely going to find out the gender with this baby.   But even so, I always find it lots of fun to do tests to see what they predict.  When I heard about Intelligender I was quite intrigued.   Intelligender is a gender prediction test.  These tests boast an amazing 87.6% accuracy rate when testing with first morning urine.  It is important to note that you cannot take this test til after your 10th week of pregnancy.  Since I am only 9 weeks, I was unable to take it yet.  Additionally, the results are not valid if you are taking progesterone and I am taking that too.  It sounds like I should be off my meds by week 16 so I plan to take the test then.  My friend has used an Intelligender though.  She said the test was super easy to use and the results were very clear.  Her test predicted a boy.  She will find out if it was right….when the baby is born. LOL!  Either way this test will be tons of fun and is a great conversation starter for sure!

Right now, they have a great deal.  The IntelliGender GPT is $27.99 + Free S/H! If you order 2 or more kits you will receive an additional 30% off.

I recently had the opportunity to review some items from Chronicle Books.  They offer books for every age and from every genre.
I was sent “Pregnancy Planner Essential Advice for Moms-to-Be” , “The Fertility Journal”, and the Julius! Touch-and-Feel Stroller Cards.

The “Fertility Journal” is a day by day guide to getting pregnant.  The book includes a section called “Fertility Basics”.  It covers ways to turbo charge your fertility, how to monitor your cycle, and how stopping different types contraception affects conception.  They even include a section called “motherhood after miscarriage”, which I appreciated.  There’s a year’s worth of journal space to track your trying to conceive journey.  Each week includes facts and tips, along with a space to answer certain questions.  For women who need a little help getting pregnant, there’s a section about infertility and a calendar to record all doctor’s appointments and medications.

I thought this book was laid out really well and is a great way to record your journey.  Unfortunately, getting pregnant isn’t always easy and this journal helps guide you and keep you organized.

The “Pregnancy Planner” is great!  It’s divided into 5 sections: Countdown, Gear, Health, Birth Day, and Homecoming.  The countdown has a page for each week from 5 to 40.  There’s a space to jot down feelings or syptoms as well information and facts pertaining to that time.  even after 5 kids, I still found facts that I didn’t know.  The gear section gives you tips about all the things you’ll need as well as the things that aren’t so necessary.  The health section explains some of the things your body does during pregnancy.  The birth day section gives you tips about what to take to the hospital and has a place to record contractions.  and lastly, the homecoming section talks about what happens to your body after delivery.  That’s something that’s not always discussed.  This planner is not only funtional but also informative.  I really enjoyed reading all the tips it offered.

Chronicle Books offers lots of neat things, including the Julius Touch and Fell Stroller cards I received.  they are super cute and I know my little one will love playing with them!

Belinda here with a great giveaway for you!  I really try my best to exercise while I’m pregnant.  I admit it can be hard in the beginning when you’re so tired and especially if you’re nauseous.  Some days I have to talk myself into it but I’m always glad I did.  It gives me more energy (I need all I can get!) and it just makes me feel good physically.   I was really excited to try Amira’s Belly Dance and Yoga for Pregnancy DVD.  Amira is an internationally renowned belly dance artist who also  earned an RN degree.  She combined these to develop a better understanding of women’s health.

I have heard that belly dancing is a great workout.  I was a little nervous that the dvd might be too complicated but I was pleasantly surprised!  The dvd is really easy to follow.  She does a great job of explaining each move and demonstrating it.   There’s a yoga warm up at the beginning that does a great job of stretching your muscles.  It felt so good!  The next part includes some strengthening exercises.   I need that!  The belly dancing section consists of more isolated moves.  I loved the hip swaying.  I know it will feel even better the further along I get!  I really felt like my body was loosening up.  The dvd also includes exercises to help during labor.  This is a great feature that will definitely come in handy!  There’s even a section that shows Amira belly dancing with her growing belly :)  I’e really enjoyed this dvd and plan to use it throughout my pregnancy.  It’s a fun and different way to stay fit!

Want a copy for yourself?  Amira has graciously offered up THREE copies of her dvd to some of our lucky readers!

As I shared in another post recently, after losing a baby at 15 weeks, and now being pregnant again, I am a mission to have a healthy and natural pregnancy.  When I came across Novena I was hooked!

Novena is safe for you and safe for your baby as well.  It is made and package entirely in the USA.  Novena does not do ANY animal testing and all packaging is is recyclable.  As a bonus their line of products is certified Vegan and USDA Organic.

For my review (Kristen) I was sent the Bearberry Brightening Moisturizer.

And I was sent the Anti-Aging Mineral Sunblock

Kristen’s thoughts:

I love my moisturizer.  I tend to have normal skin and, thankfully, have very little problems with dryness etc… However, sometimes that can make it very difficult to find a moisturizer just right for ME! Novean really hits the mark with the Bearberry moisturizer!  It is light and non-greasy and smells divine!  It works great on my skin and I will definitely be wanting more.  The sunblock is awesome because it helps prevent the brown marks I get while pregnant.  I wish it was an every day sunblock, but if it was it would not work so good.  I will be using this all summer long as I chase our toddler around the city pool.  And of course I will need to cheer the girls on at their swim team practices this summer!  And the best part….it is SAFE for my baby!

Belinda’s Thoughts:

I was also lucky enough to review some of Novena’s products!  I was sent the Organic Fruit Face Wash and the Organic Citrus Blemish Lotion.

My skin has started breaking out the last couple of weeks with this pregnancy and I’m very cautious about any product I use.  Novena’s products are free of Parabens(preservative), Sulfates (foaming agent), and Phthalates (bonding agent), which are chemicals found in 90% of all personal care products.

The Fruit Face wash did a great job of removing my makeup while leaving my skin soft and smooth.  It even removed my eye makeup.  My face just felt nice and clean after using it.  It had a nice, light fruity scent.  Their site states that a little goes a long way and that is definitely true!  The face wash has a pretty thin, liquidy consistency.  I definitely recommend holding the tube with the cap upright before opening!  This face wash contains 78% organic  ingredients and is 100% vegan.

Since many acne products aren’t safe during pregnancy, I tend to just deal with breakouts.  Novena;s Organic Citrus Blemish Lotion is completely safe.  It helps prevent and treat breakouts caused by hormonal changes and helps heal existing ones.  The lotion is lightweight and absorbs quickly.  You just apply 2 pumps before bed at night.  Like the face wash, the lotion also has a nice fruity scent.  Not medicinal at all like some other acne lotions or creams.  I’ve been using it for a couple of weeks now and I can definitely tell a difference.  My skin feels less oily and my breakouts are fewer.

I feel confident that I’m being safe when I use Novena’s products.  I like knowing that the line was developed with pregnant mamas in mind!
