While we were at the ChiTag Fair in Chicago this past November, the girls and I happened upon a certain booth.  There was an extremely friendly guy there and he called out to the girls and asked them if they’d play a quick game with him.  They jumped at the chance and went running over.  Little did we know, that this would introduce us to our favorite game of ALL TIME!
It’s called Schmovie.  And it. is. a. blast!!!! We have played this almost every night for a month now and each time we laugh til we cry!  It is a simple idea and just loads of fun!  Here’s how it works…..
Each player, or team, gets a white board with a marker.  The Schmovie producer chooses the movie idea.  The teams or players each choose a title for the movie.  Let me explain it better.  There is a single dice to roll.  This dice sets the genre for the movie.  You might get romance, sci-fi, action, horror, comedy or producer’s choice.  On Producers choice you ca choose ANY genre…even documentaries or Western’s.  Then the Producer will flip a what and a who card.  It can set up the following scenario….an Action movie about a Wimpy Zookeeper.
Each player, or team, then creates the BEST title they can think of for this Schmovie.  They may write something like, “Help! I can’t lift the Elephant” or “Fast Times at the Zoo”.  They are then turned into the Producer.  The Producer chooses their favorite title and awards a “Schquid” trophy to the team or player with the best title!  I took this game to my Bunco party the other night.  We ended up playing for hours and one of our movie themes was an action movie about the world’s oldest Proctologist! ROFL!!!!! We had titles like “Bottom’s Up” and other crazy titles.  We all laughed so hard.  All my friends wanted to go buy it, but ALL of our local game stores had sold out already.  This game is destined to be a best seller.  Even our 3 year old can play.  We put him on a team and he gives one word for his teammates and they have to incorporate it.
*I would like to add one warning.  It is geared for ages 13+.  Some of the cards were inappropriate.  I simply removed them and threw them away.  So if you are playing with younger kids, or mixed groups, you will want to go through and check the cards.*
Aside from the laughter, one of the best things about this game is that you will NEVER have the same results.  This game will never, ever get old.
You have GOT to buy Schmovie!!!  Go ahead and order one for you or a friend and then come enter to win a copy too!

Best title for an action movie with a hyperactive vampire would be “Raging Vamp Bat”
