Games are popular gifts in our family at Christmas.  They’re not only fun, but it brings us together as a family.  Funnybone Toys offers several unique card games that are not only fun, but challenging.  Array, Spectrix and CUBU have all recently won a Parent’s Choice Foundation award. This group only gives awards to the top 20% scorers of its submissions so it says a lot about these great card games!  I reviewed Array and CUBU.

We tried Cubu first.

In this game, you try to follow number and color sequences.  Each card has a number of colored boxes.  You play a card that has a corresponding  colored box in a position one above or one below the card currently in play.  It sounds harder than it is.  This video explains it really well:

I played this with my nine and eleven year olds.  They really enjoyed it and liked the challenge of trying to find new possibilities after each card was played.  The Action cards added to the game and made it even more fun.  There are two version, Classic and Speed.  Once we got the hang of it, we played the speed version.  The boys thought it was awesome 🙂

Next, we tried Array.

Both of these games are made for eight years and up but our seven year old was able to play this one with us.  In this game, you slice and splice by matching up corresponding colors on different cards.  There are so many possibilities!  Here’s a video that explains more:

Both of these games were hits with our family.  I have to say, my husband and I enjoyed them as much as the kids did.  I really liked that they made my kids think.  The colors and patterns were also really appealing.  I love that they’re compact so they don’t take up a lot of room in the game cabinet.  Either of these games would make a great gift for that hard to buy for person and at only $14.99 a piece, they’re a great value!  They are being sold at many prestigious museum stores, toy stores, and many online sites.  Click HERE to find a retailer near you.

One of our lucky readers will get to choose either Array, Cubu, or Spectrix for themselves!
