I am participating in a blog hop for the best local places to eat! No compensation or incentives were received for this post.  I love to find family friendly dining in Dayton Ohio and have taken my family to all these places!  All opinions are my own.

family friendly dining in Dayton Ohio

These are in no certain order but are a compilation of our favorite places to eat in Dayton, Ohio.  And if I say family friendly dining…I mean it! We have 4 kids ages 0-10!  So we put these places to the test.

1. Farmer Browns.  Easily one of the best places to go with your family.  Farmer Browns is located in Arcanum, Ohio.  Their specialty is their Famous Farmer Brown:

  • Farmer Brown
(Steak, Mushrooms, Provolone Cheese, Lettuce, and Special Sauce)
While my husband does love this..we go here for their milkshakes.  I highly recommend the mint chocolate chip.   Farmer Brown’s is located, well, in the middle of a cornfield!  You could almost drive right by if you were not looking for it.  That location adds to the appeal.  You can wander around and let the kids play and then eat there or easily take your food to go.  The price is right as we can feed our family of 6 for under $30!
2. B & D Pizza.  The best local pizza and subs in our region.  B & D Pizza is located in Gettysburg, Ohio.
B & D Pizza boasts delivery in Gettysburg and Bradford Ohio, but even if you’re not there you can call ahead and get your order for carryout.  We have kissed the chain pizza places goodbye and get all our pizza and subs from B & D.  My husband loves their Grilled Chicken Club Sub.  The kids and I love the pizza.  The service is friendly but watch the hours! They are only open from 5-9 and closed Monday and Tuesday.
3. Longhorn Steakhouse.  Well known for their steaks we choose to eat at the Beavercreek, Ohio location.
We always order this Texas Tonion.  Delicious!  My husband and oldest daughter order steaks.  The other kids love the chicken tenders and I order either a side salad and baked potato or a grilled chicken sandwich.   We have always been thrilled with the service and the food.  They are quick to bring bread which keeps the kids happy!  I can confidently say we have loved everything we have ever tried at Longhorn.  It’s all good!
4.  The Inn at Versailles.  Pronounced “Versalez” and not “Versai”.  Located in the tiny town of Versailles, Ohio the Inn offers 5 star dining in a luxurious setting.
If you are looking for the “wow” factor or an “oh-la-la” experience go to the Inn!  The dinner prices are not family friendly, but we can take the whole family for lunch.  They have a limited selection of children’s items but you can always order one of their specialty Wood-fired pizzas.  Adults and kids alike love these.  I am drawn towards their pasta selections.  Make sure to order one of their coffee beverages.  I recommend the cafe mocha.  They will even sprinkle it with freshly grated cinnamon!  This is a great date place!
5. Chili’s Bar & Grill.  Chili’s is known for a variety of items and we visit the Beavercreek, Ohio location.
We love to come here.  They have games the kids can play the table!  They offer amazing things like a little handheld menu thing that you can type on.  You can order your food or dessert without waiting for your server.  If you are with kids, this is a lifesaver!  It really cuts down on wait time and the food is delicious!  Our kids love when we let them order the Skillet Chocolate Chip Cookie!
6.  A & B Coffee & Cake Company.  Known for…well, coffee and cake!  Located in Greenville, Ohio on the cutest little main street!
Ok.  So maybe this is fudging it a bit because this is not a restaurant.  But hands down, this is THE best place for local coffee!  The owners are friendly and they have several kids of their own.  When your toddler has a meltdown inside, they are not at all phased.  Plus they do neat events like cupcake decorating and they donated all the proceeds to Veterans families!
An added bonus they sell mini cupcakes daily!  We can get them for all the kids, plus coffee for us and spend $10!  I get the peppermint mocha and my husband loves their Caramel Latte.
7.  The Spot.  Known for the fact that Presidents and celebrities come here!  The prices are super cheap and the food super hot and greasy!
Throw your diet out the window for at least one meal and visit The Spot.  Located in Sidney, Ohio.  Ask anyone within about 50 miles and they can tell you where The Spot is.  The food is as simple as their name and the prices are great!  The portions are HUGE!  We all end up sharing and going through a pile of napkins!  Don’t come looking for glamour!  Come expecting great food, great prices, plenty of grease and some fun local History!
8.  Maid Rite.  Located in Greenville, Ohio you go there for loose meat sandwiches.
I would be remiss if I did not include this place.  But to be honest, we do not like their food.  Locals sweat by this joint and you come prepared to wait in line.  They will get you through very quickly.  You can dine in but there is only about 4 tables.  Most people take this food to go and they have a drive thru.  Everyone raised here was raised eating at Maid Rite at least once a week.  So even though it’s not our favorite I would encourage you to check it out for a very unique experience and local flavor!
And there you have it!  A round up of the top 8 places for family friendly dining in Dayton Ohio and the surrounding areas!

Fantastic blog hop, especially for those of us traveling in/through unfamiliar places this summer vacation. It’s so helpful to have some suggestions on where’s good for the whole family. I really like the sound of that coffee shop…I wish there was a family friendly one near me!

This is a great idea for a blog hop! Number 6 looks like such a lovely place to get local baked goods! Just the idea of a coffee + cake shop seems simple, but brilliant!
