One of the biggest responsibilities of having a baby is giving him or her a great name.  I remember thinking about future baby names when I was a little girl.  My list changed MANY times over the years.  When I became pregnant with our first, I poured over baby name books searching for just the right one.  The same has been true with all 6 of our children.  All of their names have special meaning and significance.  A wonderful new children’s book addresses this important task.  In “My Name is Leona”, by Carol Gahara Harris, the main character doesn’t like her name.

Little Leona just can’t understand why her parents picked the name they did and she decides she should change it.  She “tries on” may other names but just can’t seem to find the right one.  She reflects back on how hard it was to pick names for her fish, stuffed animals and cat and soon sees what a huge task it is. (My boys got a kick out of the name she finally decided on for the cat!)  Finally she confronts her parents about her name.  Once she hears why they chose the name Leona, she realizes that it’s just right for her.

I really enjoyed this book!  Little Miss’s name is not a common name and I can picture her asking my husband and I about it when she’s older just as Leona did.  I hope that when we tell her the meaning behind it, she will love it as much as Leona comes to love her’s.  I have to admit I teared up when Leona’s parents explained her name to her.  It brought back memories of those first few minutes with my kids.  I loved the illustrations in the book (done by Kim Fujiwara).  They’re very kid friendly and cute and the boys enjoyed looking at them.  I also liked the fact that the text was not too long and the rhyming drew the kids in.  I loved the fact that the author used names from her family in the book.  Leona was her grandmother’s name.

“My Name is Leona” won the Mom’s Choice Award Gold Rating for 2013 and has several charity ties.  These include a book reading to hospitalized children at Scottish Rite Hospital for Children in Dallas, Texas, book signing with portion of proceeds benefitting Nino Salvaggio ‘s Charitable Foundation for Children in Need, in the author’s hometown of Clinton Township, Michigan, and a fundraiser for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital held at local restaurant J. Baldwin’s Restaurant, also in Clinton Township.

This sweet book is perfect for snuggling up on the couch with your little one and enjoying together.  It’s a great way to tell your child how they got their special name!  “My Name is Leona” is currently available on Amazon for $14.47.

So, how did you come up with your child’s name?

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Republic Wireless for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.

I participated in this post for Motorola in conjunction with Social Spark.  This is a sponsored post.  All opinions are my own.

Wow.  Our oldest daughter just turned 10.  Imagine my surprise when she started asking me when we might get cell phones for her and her younger sister.  Um. NEVER!  LOL!  Seriously though, it made me wonder when they will be ready for phones.  The bigger question is "how much will it cost?"  I just found out that the Motorola DEFY™ XT Smartphone is available through Republic Wireless.  And I will admit….I am now seriously considering ditching our junk phones and signing on with them.  The Motorola DEFY™ XT Smartphone is a real smartphone and retails for $199.  A little about this phone:

"Front-facing VGA Webcam
Rear-facing camera with auto focus/LED Flash, 4x digital zoom
Android operating system with wi-fi and Sprint® 3G Coverage with dual-band reception
Over 450,000 Apps through Google Play™
3.7 inch Corning® Gorilla® glass display
Dustproof, water and scratch resistant"

If you get this through Republic Wireless your plan is $19/month.  No, that is not a typo.  $19 a month.  Nineteen dollars a month.  About .60 a day.  I know you are wondering…but what does that cover? EVERYTHING!  "What do you get from your $19/month? All the talking, texting and surfing you can handle. And you get those things without a contract, without limits and without overages."

How can Republic Wireless offer this amazing rate?  They are utilizing new Hybrid Wi-Fi technology.

So….I am not sure about you but I am completely intrigued!  I am not a tech blogger, but my basic understanding of this Hybrid wi-fi is that if you are in range for regular Sprint services then your Motorola phone works just like a smartphone.  If you are out of range BUT have access to wi-fi then your phone automatically connects to that wi-fi and your smartphone still does all it's smartphone things.

Guess what our plans are this weekend?  We are researching and considering buying two of these!  Now, maybe not for our daughters yet, but when they are older, we could own 4 smartphones and just be paying $76/month.  What an awesome deal!

How much do you pay per month for your smartphone?

I am busy.  I am a mom to three, I am expecting our 4th, we just moved into a new home with a huge yard and the kids are all involved in summer activities.  My days are happy, busy and full.  Sometimes it leaves little time to do things for myself.  I know one thing that would make it more special would be getting some goodies from a place like  Mont Blue.

They sell all sorts of girls items that would make me feel extra special.  They carry crystal glass nail files, Jewelry and Bijou made with Swarvoski crystals and will even do up promotional items for you!

Wouldn’t you love a classy little Pill Case like that?

Mont Bleu is based in the Czech Republic.  One thing that really sets them apart is that their items are hand decorated and all their crystals are Swarvoski originals.

I have two daughters who are 7 and 8 and they would love one of the compact mirrors pictured above!  I loved their enhanced hair brushes.  Honestly, I think every woman loves a little sparkle and bling right?  Next time you are looking for a way to pamper yourself or get someone a unique gift remember to check out Mont Bleu.
