About 8 months ago, we added a new member to our household…but not in the way you might expect.  We added a new foster daughter to our home!  We are not allowed to share her name or her photos so our oldest daughter posed with the following item, but it does not detract from the story or the item!  Our foster daughter had never seen a rainbow til she moved in with us, had never had a Thanksgiving turkey and had never had a special doll.  The kind folks at The Queen’s Treasures offered to remedy that and sent her this very, very special doll.

We worked with The Queen’s Treasures a few years ago.  You can read that review here.

When they offered to send an item for us to review, I asked for any 18″ doll because I KNEW how much our foster daughter would love it!  The doll they sent her was perfect!  They sent the Laura Ingall’s doll. We LOVE watching that show and have introduced our foster daughter to it as well.  As soon as she read the packaging she KNEW it was Laura from the show we watch together.  Much like the products we received last time, the quality is top notch.

The Queen’s Treasures has so many options for doll lovers.  They have clothing, dolls, accessories and more.  And their customer service is amazing.  When they heard that this was her first doll, they also sent along a new dress for her.  Sadly, our older girls are no longer playing with dolls, but they still have their items from The Queen’s Treasures and will gladly let their foster sister play with them while she lives here.  We continue to be impressed with the quality, service, selection and staff at The Queen’s Treasures.  They are offering one lucky reader their own 18″ doll dress!  Enter below for your chance to win.

The magic of the holidays brings joy, excitement, generosity and tradition. It’s in the sparkling snow that covers the front yard, and the twinkling lights adorning every roof top. We see it when families come together, strangers offer kindness, and the world celebrates a time of peace and happiness. Children empower us with their whimsical spirits this time of year, and inspire us to believe in the magic of the season. And that’s exactly what Magic Light Wand wants to do – put the power of enchanted holidays back in the hands of the children!

We have 5 kids, three of whom are 8 and under and I know their eyes would light up to find these under the tree or in their stockings this year!

Magic Light Wand isn’t just a toy wand. Inside the box, you’ll find a sparkly wand with a star on top, and a receiver. The wand becomes the remote control, allowing kids to control the festive tradition of lighting the Christmas tree! Once the wand is turned on, all it takes is the imagination and inspiration of a child to make it work. When they command the Christmas tree lights to turn on, the Magic Light Wand will not only light up, but it also releases a spellbinding magical sound!

So this blue dog, sitting on a shelf at Target caught the eye of both me and my 6-year-old son. I think the design of this little fellow should have won an award. I just gave it to the boys, so we haven’t had it long enough to really test the boy-breakage-factor of the Woofer. But the people at B. Toys are proud of the little guy and we picked up the Ribbit-Tat-Tat drums for a full-scale boy band.

Ribbit-Tat-Tat

The Ribbit-Tat-Tat has a “follow-me” function to help kids learn musical beats and build memory.

A 6-year-old and his 3-year-old brother are able to make a lot of noise on their own. Buying them a music-making toy – a drum set no-less — seemed like a recipe for tinnitus. But Woofer was so cute. And we don’t buy them many electrical toys. They have a roaring dinosaur, a Dino-alarm clock and occasional use of their sister’s computer for games. For the most part, they build with building blocks, building logs and some neat magnetic geometric things that they make castles out of. So, this is new and it was a real thrill for both of them. Once they were torn from their packaging, the Woofer and Ribbit-Tat-Tat became instant hits with the boys. I haven’t figured out what algorithm is used to decide what is played by different combinations of buttons and string strumming. The Woofer belches out howls, “woofs” and “ruffs” with surprisingly good tone. I’ve got a video below that captures the boys playing on the B. Toys. Audio is captured from two-piece orchestra after the boys left them alone. The boys played with the synthesizer sounds on the Ribbit-Tat-Tat, but have not figured out the Auto-tune-like capabilities of the little microphone on the drum set. Both toys have obvious power buttons on them and volume controls. I wish they would design them with some kind of parental volume control – something a 6-year-old couldn’t figure out, but neither toy is excessively loud. Like any toy, with enough time, it is an irritation to adult ears but if you want a music toy that is both cute and with bearable audio – check out the Ribbit Tat Tat or the Woofer.

B. Toys Woofer

The B. Toys Woofer is a silly guitar that makes acoustic, electric f and dog-based music.

Holiday Gift Guide

Being a blogger is a lot of fun!  Even though I have been blogging for several years, I still get surprised sometimes! Just recently a contact reached out and asked me to review Neat-Oh! Toys.  To be honest, I had not heard of Neat-Oh! before but they are an awesome addition to the kids wish list!

Neat-Oh! Toys #ad

We got the Neat-Oh! Dinosaur T-Rex Projector and Room Guard.  Jack LOVES this.  And I mean LOVES this.

Neat-Oh! Toys #ad

It sits a bit over 15″ tall and can project 24 different dino images in your kids room!

Neat-Oh! Toys #ad

The boys LOVE switching the images around.  They love playing with their T-Rex at night time and doing different dino images on their wall.  It’s cute to hear them making all of those dinosaur sounds.  Speaking of sounds, this cute dino can ROAR too!

Neat-Oh! Toys #ad

When you flip the switch, this dino becomes a room guard and will belt out one of five different dino roars!  This is just the neatest toy!!! Kids will definitely love it, but also I think teachers and pre-schools would love this too! So much fun and the boys haven’t tired of this after a few weeks so that’s definitely a winner! So far we are on the original set of batteries, so it seems to be good on battery life too!

Our boys also got this cute 5-piece Neat-Oh! Dinosaur play set.

Neat-Oh! Toys #ad

The 5 dinosaurs are a Velociraptor, Triceratops, Tyrannosaurus Rex, Brachiosaurus, and Stegosaurus.

Neat-Oh! Toys #ad

They are just the right size for our 3 and 6 year old’s hands.  They would make great Christmas gifts, stocking stuffers or a gift to take to a birthday party.  I loved the selection of dinosaurs.  They are all the boy’s favorites.

Neat-Oh! Toys #ad

You can buy the Neat-Oh! Dinosaur Projector and Room Guard on Amazon or online at Neat-Oh!.com.  You can buy the Neat-Oh! Dinosaur Play Set on Amazon as well or online at Neat-Oh!.com.  Additionally  you may find the Neat-Oh! Toys in neighborhood toy stores nationwide!

Holiday Gift Guide

One of the small joys in my life is seeing our kids toys nice and organized.  I like toys that fit into boxes or bins that can be labeled.  I LOVE it when you can get something like marbles, or blocks and you can add onto the collection but they STILL fit into one container.  A few years back our boys received a Design & Drill toy.  They loved it then and still love it now.
design and drill #ad
Our dear friends at Educational Insights recently set us several more Design & Drill sets and we are all over the moon with happiness!  I love that these toys are teaching them skills and they are nice and quiet.

While each one is a set, they can also use their imaginations and create their own inventions.  Mostly however they build the correct item over and over.
It is awesome to watch their faces scrunch up in concentration as they work to remember where the propeller attaches, or which way to turn the drill.  Then to see their faces light up as they bring us their finished product!

Once disassembled, we keep their entire Design & Drill collection in one box.  These are perfect for boys or girls and are great at getting them interested in real tools and projects.
The folks at Educational Insights are also offering a fun giveaway…just in time for Christmas! One lucky reader can choose any TWO Design & Drill sets!!! Enter below for your chance to win.
