Newman’s Own Organics was founded and established as a division of Newman’s Own in 1993 by Nell Newman and her business partner Peter Meehan, and became a separate company in late 2001.  They are dedicated to providing healthy, organic food that also taste great.  This great company also offers a line of premium pet foods.  More than 70% of all ingredients used in the formulation of all Newman’s Own Organics foods are organic.  We’ve all heard the benefits of eating organic ourselves so it would make sense that the same benefits would apply to our pets.  Feeding organic foods eliminates the buildup of residues of chemical additives, preservatives, pesticides, fertilizers and herbicides which have been clinically proven to have adverse health effects on dogs, cats and in fact all animals including humans.

I generously received both a dog sampler and a ct sampler.  These included both wet and dry food as well as treats.

We rarely give our dogs wet food so this was a big treat for them!  They scarfed it down and licked the bowl clean!  I loved the fact that the first ingredient listed was organic beef or chicken, not rice or corn like the majority of pet foods.  The same is true for their dry dog food, which was a hit as well with the dogs.

We received both Peanut Butter treats and Chicken and Rice Snack Sticks.  The first 5 ingredients in the peanut butter treats are organic barley flour, natural peanut butter, organic carrots, organic apples ,and ground chicken.  Both dogs LOVED these and I really like that they are high in protein!  The snack sticks are even higher in protein (min 18%) and were just as popular.  In fact, both dogs come running when they hear me opening  the bag.

The cats enjoyed their new food as well.  It has the same high quality ingredients as the dog food.  It was very moist and apparent that it comes a large amount of meat.

Another great thing about Newman’s Own Organics pets food is that Paul and Nell Newman have chosen to donate all of the charity money generated by the sale of the pet food to organizations that support animals’ well-being.  Paul Newman gives away all his after-tax profits from the royalties from Newman’s Own and Newman’s Own Organics to educational and charitable organizations.  I’ve always had a love for animals so this means a lot to me.  At the launch of the line, ten $10,000 checks were given to charities around the country.  These included animal hospitals, an elephant sanctuary and various humane societies, just to name a few.  Since then, they have continued to contribute a good deal more to many very worthy animal charities.
