I loved “Golden Girls” so these cute notecards made me smile.

The simple message on the front of them really says it all and I plan on sending a few of these out to friends far away.

When I saw this cute box, it brought back memories of my friends and I dancing around my living room to the classic Cyndi Lauper song!

I really like this cute anchor necklace and although I’d love to keep it, I think I may give it to a good friend of mine because I love the message. This delicate gold-tone necklace is on an 18″ chain.

I love trying out new makeup so I was excited to find this highlighter/bronzer combo from Manna Kadar.

I have also used this as eye shadow and I was super happy with it!

The fun splitter is not only cute, but will also come in really handy!  The first use I thought of is being able to plug in two sets of headphones when my kiddos are watching something on my phone.

Lastly, this inspirational decal is a great reminder of all the precious friends and family I have been blessed with!

So here’s the value breakdown:

  • decal- I wasn’t able to find this exact sticker but I would place it’s value at around $2.
  • Golden Girls Notecards- Again, I was unable to find this exact card but I found a downloadable print on etsy for $4.  That combined with the cost of the paper and envelopes would place this at about $8.
  • Girls Just Want to Have Fun box- $14.92 on a collectibles website.
  • necklace- $9.99
  • Funkytech Splitter- $7
  • Manna Kadar bronzer- $18.95

The total value of the August box is $60.86.  My favorite things were the necklace and the bronzer.  Even though I may not personally use everything I received, the others will make great gifts!

Next month’s theme is “Cuteness Overload”.  Sounds fun!

Disclosure: I was not financially compensated for this post. I received curtains from Eclipse Curtains for review purposes. The opinions are my own, based on my personal experience with the product.

We recently decided to do a mini makeover to Little Miss’s room.  She needed more storage and we wanted to make it more of a big girl room.  We started by painting the walls a white with a hint of gray.  I replaced her old dresser with an armoire we had in the basement.  I painted it a pale blue and replaced the metal door panels with  white fabric.

20160815_101329

My husband made a nightstand out of pallets and we purchased new bedding.  I made some throw pillows and embroidered Little Miss’s monogram and name on them.  I also framed a little A for above her bed and hung the letters to spell “Dream” on the wall.

20160815_101356

I was not a fan of the traditional bi-fold doors on her closet because it didn’t allow full access. So I replaced it with  semi sheer curtain panel.

20160815_101110

Finally, we hung up some great blackout curtains from Eclipse.  It’s hard for Little Miss to sleep when there’s a lot of light coming in through the window.

20160815_101525 20160815_101344

To her, light=playtime, not bedtime!  So, daylight savings time can make bedtime rough. Thankfully, Eclipse Curtains block over 99% of intrusive light, reduce unwanted noise, and help keep in the heat in during the colder months as well as keep the room cool during the summer months.

I loved the feminine touch of the ruffles on the Reese curtains and the back of the panels do a great job of blocking out light.

I really like that these curtains make her roomer darker without feeling like a dungeon.  This is a picture of the room with the curtains open:

20160815_101916

And here is one of the room, at 11:45 am, with the curtains closed:

20160815_102038

They really make a huge difference!  I love that they help block out heat as well since A’s room faces east and can get pretty warm in the summer. They’re beautiful and functional at the same time.  Eclipse curtains are available in both traditional and contemporary designs.  They even have a fun chevron print that I plan on putting in the little boys’ room. You can find Eclipse curtains on Amazon and at Walmart and Target.

A thinks her new room is super pretty and it functions much better now too!  And bedtime has been going better so that’s a huge bonus!

Disclosure: We received free lodging and a meal in exchange for our review.  All opinions are my own!

I am a big fan of one tank trips, travel, traditions and time with my family. Combining all 4 of these is
the ultimate for me! We were able to do this on a recent trip to Frankenmuth, MI. We live about 2
hours away, so it’s a nice drive over. Since moving to Michigan, we take our kids every year to Bronner’s
and allow them to choose their Christmas ornament for the year. It’s really fun and sweet! Normally we
go over and back in one day. This year however, we were treated to a stay at the Bavarian Inn in
downtown Frankenmuth.

Oh my word. The location could not possibly be more perfect! You walk out
the door of the inn, stroll across the beautiful covered bridge and you are in the heart of downtown
Frankenmuth!
The Bavarian Inn is huge and reminded our kids of a big castle. There are tennis courts, swimming pools,
water slides, video arcade games, dining and more all located on site.

Our girls enjoyed the water slides
and our boys the toddler play area in one of the pools. Oh, I forgot to mention they also have an 18 hole
mini golf course located inside. Of course we tried it out with the kids! The rooms were nice and
spacious. Thankfully they came with a mini fridge (always nice when traveling with kids). My favorite
feature of the Inn, is the history. Each room has a name on it. When you go into the room you will find
the artwork is real photos and documents from the family whose name is on your door! Really neat!
The folks at the Bavarian Inn were kind enough to give us a chance to try out their World Famous
Chicken! The kids were excited by the atmosphere, which was distinctly German.

We even had live
music at one point! The kids all chose flavored lemonades for their drinks, and blackberry was voted the
best!

We got to try all kinds of delicious food. The world famous chicken was AMAZING. We all loved
the buttered noodles. The kids liked the ice cream at the end of the meal as well. Everything was hot,
fresh and wonderful.
Afterwards we worked off the big meal, by swimming for hours back at the Inn!

If you live anywhere near Frankenmuth, you need to head over this way and explore. While there, do
yourself a favor and treat your family to a stay at the Bavarian Inn!

It will be the start of new traditions!

Disclosure: My family and I received free passes to a screening of Pete’s Dragon.  All opinions are my own.

I grew up watching the VHS tape of Pete’s Dragon.  I loved it as a kid and was anxious to see what it would be like when I heard that Disney was doing a remake of Pete’s Dragon.  As a parent, I wondered.. is Pete’s Dragon a family friendly movie?

Here is a preview:

About the movie:

A reimagining of Disney’s cherished family film, “Pete’s Dragon” is the adventure of an orphaned boy named Pete and his best friend Elliott, who just so happens to be a dragon. “Pete’s Dragon” stars Bryce Dallas Howard (“Jurassic World”), Oakes Fegley (“This is Where I Leave You”), Wes Bentley (“The Hunger Games”), Karl Urban (“Star Trek”), Oona Laurence (“Southpaw”) and Oscar® winner Robert Redford (“Captain America: The Winter Soldier”). The film, which is directed by David Lowery (“Ain’t Them Bodies Saints”), is written by Lowery & Toby Halbrooks based on a story by Seton I. Miller and S.S. Field and produced by Jim Whitaker, p.g.a. (“The Finest Hours,” “Friday Night Lights”), with Barrie M. Osborne (“The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring,” “The Great Gatsby”) serving as executive producer. For years, old wood carver Mr. Meacham (Robert Redford) has delighted local children with his tales of the fierce dragon that resides deep in the woods of the Pacific Northwest. To his daughter, Grace (Bryce Dallas Howard), who works as a forest ranger, these stories are little more than tall tales…until she meets Pete (Oakes Fegley). Pete is a mysterious 10-year-old with no family and no home who claims to live in the woods with a giant, green dragon named Elliott. And from Pete’s descriptions, Elliott seems remarkably similar to the dragon from Mr. Meacham’s stories. With the help of Natalie (Oona Laurence), an 11-year-old girl whose father Jack (Wes Bentley) owns the local lumber mill, Grace sets out to determine where Pete came from, where he belongs, and the truth about this dragon. Disney’s “Pete’s Dragon” opens in U.S. theaters on August 12, 2016. (WALT DISNEY PICTURES) This film is rated PG.

So, my family and I were able to see a screening of Pete’s Dragon the other night.  I am thrilled to say that is a family friendly movie all the way! This is the best kids movie to come out since Frozen.  Our kids in attendance ranged in ages from 3-13 and they all LOVED it! As we were leaving Benjamin (6) asked, “Mommy, can we please see this movie again?”  Our 3 year old squealed in delight watching Elliot, the dragon, take flight.  This movie does a great job of staying light hearted and FUN! No cursing, no rough language, no sexual content.  This is a family friendly movie at it’s finest!  I highly recommend seeing Pete’s Dragon.  We will see it again and buy it once it is out on DVD!

If you see it, please comment and let me know what you thought!

Disclosure: I was not financially compensated for this post. I received aExtend2Fit 3-in-1 Car Seat from Graco for review purposes. The opinions are my own, based on my personal experience with the product.

Keeping our kids safe is our number one priority so making sure they are properly restrained in the car is at the top of our list.  The kids know that we don;t leave he garage until every one is strapped in.  The American Academy of Pediatrics currently recommends keeping children rear facing until at least 2 years old.  And that is a minimum.  The longer kids can stay rear facing, the better.  This is because their little spines and necks aren’t fully developed yet and are much more likely to be injured in a crash.

The new Extend2Fit 3-in-1 Car Seat from Graco makes it easy to keep kids rear facing.  It features a 3-position extension panel that provides 5” of extra legroom allowing the child to ride safely rear-facing longer. The seat can be used rear-facing from 4-50 lbs., forward-facing from 22-65 lbs. and as a high back booster from 30-100 lb.

20160715_151734 20160715_151800

I know a lot of people are concerned about their child’s legs being cramped while rear facing.  The extendable panel really helps with this.  It easily pulls out by pulling on a lever.

20160715_151852

20160715_153411

The seat features Simply Safe Adjust which allows you to easily adjust the height of the harness and headrest as your child grows.  It only took my a couple of minutes to adjust it to Little Miss’s height. The recline lever allows you to position the seat perfectly for your child’s age and the seat’s position.  The levels on the side of seat give a nice visual that allows you to make sure the seat is positioned correctly.

20160715_153358

I love how easy it is to adjust the tightness of the harness.  You simply press the small lever in the bottom center of the seat to loosen it or pull the strap to tighten it.  We don’t have to take the seat out to adjust it when A has a growth spurt.

20160715_151917 The 10-position headrest adjusts easily for your growing child and the padding adds extra protection for A’s head.  The seat pad is also nicely padded and machine washable.

The seat features the LATCH system and we were able to easily install it in just a couple of minutes.  It fit snugly and securely.

Extend2Fit 20160715_165544

Little Miss loves her new seat and says it’s really comfortable.  She also appreciates the two cup holders.  Those are really important to a three-year-old!  I love knowing that my daughter is both safe and comfortable.  It makes road trips much more enjoyable!

I really like the fact that the Extend2Fit seat will grow with my daughter,  She is on the small side (she’s 30 lbs at almost 4) so she’ll be able to ride rear facing for a while yet.  After that, she’ll continue to be safe while using the seat as a belt positioning booster.

We are fans of Graco and used Graco SnugRides for all our kids when they were infants.  We trust the brand.  In addition to meeting or exceeding all applicable US safety standards, the Extend2Fit seat has been side impact tested for occupant retention solely with the built-in 5-point harness system.  My husband has worked in EMS for 18 years and he’s seen first hand the importance of having little ones properly restrained.  With this seat, we both feel confident that Little Miss is safe and secure!

You can learn more about the Extend2Fit convertible car seat at gracobaby.com.  You can also connect with Graco on Facebook and Twitter.
